Meghan De Pinto-Smith joins the McKays Employment Law and IR Team

McKays Solicitors is so excited to welcome, Senior Associate, Meghan De Pinto-Smith to the McKays’ Industrial Relations and Employment Law team.

Meghan has worked exclusively in industrial relations and employment law at a high level for a specialist boutique Brisbane firm for the last 6 years – but has come home to settle in Mackay to be closer to family.

Meghan has a particular passion for assisting employers, and has acted extensively for large (including ASX listed companies), medium and small employers across a variety of industries to meet their legal obligations and minimise risks across their workforce.

Meghan is regularly representing employers in the Fair Work Commission, Human Rights Commission, QCAT and the Federal Court. She has also been involved in the Fair Work Commission’s Award modernisation process, balancing the interests of the employer against union constraints.

She has extensive experience in advising on, reviewing (including BOOT assessments) and negotiating Enterprise Agreements, Unfair Dismissal and General Protection (Adverse Action) claims, drafting and reviewing employment contracts, disciplinary action, policies and procedures, workplace health and safety obligations and investigations and workers compensation claims.

The industrial relations landscape is so ever-changing, evolving and complex. With superstar lawyer Meghan joining us, her and Tamara Hage (Industrial Relations and Employment lawyer) will be able to keep you up to date and provide expert advice, including on current changes to enterprise bargaining, fixed and maximum term contracts, flexible work arrangements, pay equity, sexual harassment and discrimination laws, enterprise agreements and managing psychosocial risks in the workplace.

When Meghan is not at work, she loves getting outdoors and going to the beach, boating and fishing around the Mackay and the Whitsunday Islands, and spending time catching up with family and friends.

We are so lucky to have someone of Meghan’s calibre and experience join us.
