Tamara Hage is an Associate at McKays, practising in the following areas:

Tamara holds a Bachelor of Laws, First Class Honours Degree from James Cook University and was also the recipient of the University Medal upon graduating. She has many awards and recognitions to her name, including the Una Prentice Memorial Trust Award by the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (for achieving the highest grades of all female law graduates in her year) and in 2021 was recognised as a Finalist in the 30 under 30 Lawyers Weekly Awards in the Employment and Industrial Relations category.

Tamara has a wide range of experience in handling matters which span across multiple practice areas.

As one of the few lawyers in Mackay practising in Industrial Relations and Employment Law, combined with her valuable experience in Commercial & Business Law, Tamara has a unique and holistic understanding and approach – offering practical advice and solutions to issues affecting her clients.

She is also the lead Personal Property Securities (PPSA) lawyer at McKays, and is responsible for providing majority of the advice and registrations on the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) for clients of the firm.

Her experience is not limited to acting for private businesses, but also extends into the public sector, being part of the firm’s dedicated Local Government team and having acted for numerous local governments.

Originally from Mackay, Tamara is passionate about the region, particularly the mining and resource sector. In November 2022, Tamara was appointed as a Director of the Resource Industry Network (RIN), the peak body which represents the mining and resources sector including allied industries within the Mackay, Isaac, Moranbah, Whitsunday and Bowen Basin regions. She also chairs the RIN Career Opportunity Equity and Diversity (COED) Committee.

Tamara is a highly motivated professional and prides herself on her determination to find the right legal solution and providing exceptional service to her clients. Her broad practice areas and knowledge base across the realms of employment, local government, and commercial assists her to understand the ‘bigger picture’ and interrelating issues for her clients, particularly in complex matters.

She has a passion for presenting and has been invited to be a guest speaker/presenter on various occasions, including for the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) and Resource Industry Network (RIN). She also regularly prepares and presents client seminars at the firm across her practice areas.
